What is Measure A and who will benefit from it?

Measure A is a proposal on the June 5th ballot seeking authorization for local funding to provide a solution to the Alameda County Childcare CRISIS. The goal of Measure A is to improve access, quality, wages and oversight of the county’s ailing childcare system, ensuring that children receive quality care, early educators are well trained and certified, and parents can trust that their kids are safe and well cared for. Approval of Measure A will authorize a 1/2 % countywide sales tax with taxpayer safeguards to address the crisis. Children, parents, families and childcare workers will directly benefit from Measure A. Everyone will indirectly benefit as thousands more children receive the childcare and early education needed to prepare for success in life.

Thousands of Alameda County children are on waiting lists for child care and early education programs.
